About BANDSHELL
Remember that first time dancing in the rain? Remember a song that made you change? Feelings like this - I don’t want them to disappear. As both a musician and appreciator, my favourite memories - looking back - are where music and nature meet. Simply seeing a bandshell would get me excited! Standing in the moist grass waiting for a thunderstorm to pass so that the band could continue to play. Witnessing a sunset as the music goes on. There’s a magic in that pause that live performance art creates for the brain. A moment to experience life, in the fresh air.
Oakville has a few outdoor stages! Which is a great start. But still, so many are left empty, without anyone to grace their floors. Bandshell is here to wake up those sleepy venues by placing local talent front and centre in their communities, and fostering a warm environment where artists can share and be received - for and by all ages. Where nature and art connect.
If you or someone you know loves the idea of sitting in a park and workshopping songs, or visiting the lakefront on a day where there is live music, then please spread the word about bandshell! This two part initiative needs your support to help share with more people the captivating energy that arrives when we come together. (1) songwriting workshops - these are where young talent can hone their craft and receive workshops and encouragement (January - August).
(2) live shows - where the students can showcase their work, followed by local bands and artists to entertain everyone (August 2025)
